The basis for our design is to have a lightweight, durable, and affordable prototype of a portable water purification system. The water purification system will have produce a steady flow of water through our system using a 4 stage process. In these 4stages,there will be the use a hose at the inlet of the system that will have the functionality of collecting the stagnant water source.

In order forthe stagnant water source to travel throughout the purification process we will be using a water pump,which is the first and most vital stage of the process, that will send the water at a constant rate through aset of various filters, then through a disinfection process and lastly the water will flow out of anothersection of hose as the outlet for collection as purified drinking water.

The second stage is the waterflowing through the first of a two stage water filtration, this first water filter that the water will travelthrough is called carbon filter. The carbon filter will collect all of the larger particles and sediments thatare present in the stagnant water. The second stage of the two stage filtration is the reverse osmosisfiltration, which will be able to filter particles as small as 5 microns that are within the water that is to befiltered. The two stage water filtration process as described are the second and third stage of the4stagewater purification process. The final and second most important stage of the process isdisinfection of the water. The disinfection process is called ultraviolet light disinfection, which is used tokills 99.9% of all pathogens and bacteria that is present in the water after the water filtration process.Once the water has been disinfected, it will flow from an outlet tube for collection.
